Kaspersky Internet Security for Mac (KIS for Mac) protects OS X, personal data, web browsing and online payments (by means of Safe Money technology) and online banking services.
In 2014 I was charged as a leading UI and UX designer for Mac products. Mac team wanted some changes for their main product (KIS for Mac) as it had fallen behind in visual design and functionality. Moreover I had been working on Windows version of the same app for three years now so I was a perfect candidate to bring those two products closer together.
It should be mentioned that we tested the new version worldwide and users are satisfied with the changes and coped perfectly with the main UX scenarios we tested. It's a very important sign to me because we were seriously changing the app that had already had some "legacy" in antivirus market and it's always a big risk to alter anything people are used to.
Main feature is background scanning for viruses, malicious objects and threats. User will be notified right away if KIS for Mac finds any of these.
Product can also deal with such threats by itself notifying user about results.
Protection state is displayed in the center of the main window, so the user can deal with all threats with a single button push.
User also can proceed to detailed information regarding current protection state by pressing Learn More link in the same area if he or she wishes to manage threats one by one personally.
Everything is fine
Almost all protection components are turned off
Malicious objects are detected
Every antivirus software needs a scan. You can scan whatever you want, starting with full scan and ending with a network folder downloaded a second before.
You just drag and drop anything you want into scan window or choose one of the predefined options.
List view in the same window.
Safe Money is a technology that protects personal and payment data when you do online banking or e-shopping.
UI is minimal , most interesting things keep going under the hood.
When KIS for Mac detects online banking website or some kind of payment in e-shop it suggests to open it in the protected mode. That's simple. User's choice is saved and next time while visiting the same website again Safe Money will automatically protect this page to prevent user's data from being stolen.
There is a Safe Money section in KIS for Mac if user wants to edit the list of protected websites, delete or add a new one manually.
Parental control in KIS for Mac completes and expands built-in parental control in OS X with additional features and detailed reports.
You can download a 30 days free trial version on kaspersky.com to see how KIS for Mac works.
Right now we are working on a new version with new features and improving old ones with regard to usability test results.
